May- my Dad falls thru 10 ft. ceiling from attic into kitchen
June – he’s back in the hospital for 4 pts of blood, also my brother’s father-in-law dies.
July – Pop has brain surgery – both sides – to drain pooled blood
August – my Mom has hemorrhagic stroke
Sept – my husband has a heart attack
Oct-Dec – my aunt moves out of my parent’s home back to OK. My sister’s in-laws both die, our uncle dies.

My mother and father are both having memory loss problems.

In December we find out that my dad has a suspicious mass in his pancreas. Since then he’s gone to several different specialists. My siblings and myself are now closely involved with that, as Pop was unable to tell us what was going on. He didn’t know what organ of the body was involved or what specialist he was going to or what they were testing for. We have become very aware that his memory is now on-again, off-again, and probably never totally returned after the surgery in July, but with mom’s stroke happening within 2 weeks after he got home from the rehab hospital, all eyes and attentions turned to her and we did not realize exactly what he was dealing with. He still doesn’t admit memory problems, but we are all noticing that it is a problem.

Dad does indeed have pancreatic cancer. This type of cancer doesn’t go into remission and is fast growing. It is a bit slower in the elderly (he is 80) but it will still take him within a couple of years. My sister said that the Dr. told her 6 months – 1 year. When I talked to the Dr. I told him I’d read that it is within 5 years, and he said No, it’s quicker than that, more like within 2 years. So we are looking at a quick illness and end. We are supposed to get a call from the oncologist on Monday to set an appt. to discuss the progression and treatment of this cancer. We know it won’t be surgery or radiation, but a kind of chemo.

Brad Wims was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma, a cancer in his knee, about two years ago. After 2 new knees and several surgeries we learned on 2/26/08 that this cancer has spread to Brad’s lungs. The cancer is not responsive to chemo therapy. There are some experimental options that Brad has tried, sending them to Germany multiple times. Unfortunately, the cancer has not responded as we had hoped to the treatments and Brad is truly in the fight of his life. Over the course of the past month he is been struggling greatly to breathe due to the tumors and blod clots that have taken over his right lung completely and are filling up his left lung. Brad is a strong, kind, fun-loving 34 year old Christian with a beautiful wife, Jenny, precious 5 year old son, Zeke, and an adorable almost 2 year old daughter, Kaelyn.

 Please pray that God performs His miracle and rids Brad’s body of this cancer. We have every confidence that the Great Physician is at work and we send up petitions for health, strength, and many more days and years of life as well as prayers of thanks and praise for the lives that Brad and his story have touched and for the wonderful works God is performing.
