Update:

I picked up the 3D glasses today for the commericals that will be in 3D so you do not have to worry about finding them.

Start thinking about what you want to bring. Remember it will be finger foods.

Follow up from my cousin's report.. Oncologist Visit Fri, 23Jan09

Liver cancer Stage 4. 6 months. With treatment, a type of chemo, maybe the progression of the cancer will slow enough to get him 18 months or so. That's all they know, there hasn't been much advance in pancreatic cancer like with some of the others.

Pop will let the Dr. know which treatment option he is choosing by the end of the week, then it will take a week or maybe 10 days to get it set up and get him started. This type of chemo is not supposed to make him really sick. He will experience fatigue (he already is experiencing that) whether he chooses to have treatment or no treatment, so that's just going to be part of it. He should be able to drive himself to and from chemo appointments in the beginning, even. If he experiences nausea, they will give him something for that. (no hair loss, etc) The symptoms are few. He will have increasing fatigue and weakness, possible nausea and toward the end possible pain.

My thoughts.. My uncle is blessed with choices and independence. He's in a good place to be at 80 years old. I think he'll live longer than 6 months. My aunt and cousins are needing prayers to deal with this in a way that is good for my Uncle

Our Life Group had a good turnout for such a cold evening. We had 8 attend.

1. Alan
2. Donna
3. Doug
4. Diane
5. Renny
6. Danny
7. Linda
8. Bryan

Kay, Minerva and Bill were not able to attend.

Everyone enjoyed the soup and cornbread, although the cornbread ran out quickly. The conversation around the table was excellent. Part of the discussion is noted in key points below. Doug brought a new game called Jenga. Doug, Bryan, Linda, Donna and Alan played. Donna won.

Key points of discussion:

• Changed meeting from Friday at 7pm to Saturday at 5pm.
• Start a study on GRIEF presented by Dr. Doug Yost. The study will start on January 31st. This will give us time to print the study material.
• We will continue to support Gaby Joseph (Hope for Haiti’s Children). Started collecting funds from group.
• Next Life Group meeting is Saturday, January 24th at 5pm. Doug will present a brief introduction to the study on GRIEF.
